The Recruitment Process

The recruitment process from when a position closes to when a position is offered usually takes around 4-6 weeks, however in some circumstances it may take a little longer depending upon availability of candidates.

All applicants are notified via mail of the outcome of their application.

Some applicants may be required to complete psychological assessments these are used to confirm aspects about the applicant’s personality that come out in the interview and through reference checks.

Before commencing at Fremantle Ports new employees are required to:

  • Complete a medical and drug and alcohol screen. The Human Resources Officer will organise these appointments for you and Fremantle Ports will bear the costs of these. If you are working at the Kwinana Bulk Terminal site you will also need to complete a Mines Site Health Surveillance examination.
  • Provide Fremantle Ports with a Police Clearance – this must occur so new employees can be issued with Security Passes that comply with Maritime Security Legislation. New employees are required to cover the cost of this which are approximately $40 and can be obtained from your local police station.
