Emergencies including oil spills should be reported to Fremantle Ports’ Emergency Only number 9335 1300.

Fremantle Ports is well equipped and prepared to respond to any oil spills that occur within or in the vicinity of Fremantle Port waters. Fremantle Ports maintains oil response equipment and has fully trained staff available at all times.

Fremantle Ports’ Incident Response Plan interacts with national, State and local emergency plans. The procedures within the Incident Response Plan include a decision point regarding the initiation of the State and National Oil Spill plans.

The Department of Transport is responsible for the State’s Emergency Plan for Marine Oil Pollution, known as WestPlan-MOP.

Under the plan, Fremantle Ports is responsible for responding to or ensuring a response to oil spills within port limits, providing expert response teams for marine operations and is the First Response Agency for spills within district but outside port limits.

Continued preparedness to respond to an incident is ensured through training, maintenance of equipment and oil spill response exercises.
