The first shipment of Western Australian crude oil arrived at the Port.Thirty thousand tons of crude oil from Barrow Island was pumped from the Ampol tanker "P.J. Adams" into special tanks at the B.P. Refinery at Kwinana.
The longest bulk carrier ever to visit the Port of Fremantle the 718' Belgium Ship "Eeklo", loaded grain at No. 9 berth North Wharf "Eeklo" was the first Belgian ship to visit Fremantle for more than 20 years.

F.P.A. Pilot tender boat "Lady Forrest" was retired after 64 years' service.
October 1967
The largest tanker to call at the Port of Fremantle, the "Thelma", discharged 69,000 tons of crude oil in October 1967. The entry of this vessel and subsequent large tankers into the Port was made possible by the deepening of Success and Parmelia Bank channels.
