23 April 1970

The Blue Funnel Line's "Centaur" sailed from Fremantle on her 100th round trip from Fremantle to Singapore in a period of little more than 5 years. The vessel carried passengers and livestock in addition to other cargo. Its extremely popular voyage took 17 days. By 12th March 1976, the ship had departed on Voyage No. 200.

13 June 1970

The first shipment of nickel briquettes to be exported from Western Australian was loaded aboard the Swedish unit-load ship "Waitara" on 13 June 1970.

6 November 1970

The largest container ship in the world at the time, the "Sydney Express" berthed at the Port of Fremantle Container Terminal on its maiden visit on 6 November 1970.
