1975
Associated Steamships Pty Ltd withdrew the coasters "Manoora" , "Kanimbla" and "Kooringa" for in 1975. The general cargo trade between the Eastern States and the Port of Fremantle was revived in 1979 by the Western Australian State Shipping Service, which operated the unit load ships "Beroona", "Wambiri" and the multiplex design ship "Kimberley" on this run.

Navy week in WA was marked by visits from "HMAS Supply"; "HMAS Hobart"; "HMAS Vampire"; "HMAS Vendetta"; "HMAS Oxley"; and "HMNZS Taranaki". The ships visited Fremantle for the official opening of the new naval support facility at Garden Island.

The first ship to arrive in Fremantle after passing through the Suez Canal, since its reopening, was the Russian vessel "Novomoskousk".

11 April 1975

The ten millionth tonne of WA produced alumina left Alcoa of Australia (WA) Limited's Kwinana refinery for the USA on the M.C. "Nordic Ranger" on 11th April 1975. The 41,000 tonne bulk shipment was the company's biggest single shipment since production began at Kwinana in November 1963.

Between the opening in February 1964 and December 1975, a total of 11,700,000 tonnes of alumina was shipped to Australian and overseas producers from the Kwinana Alumina Refinery.
