Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Inspects the Naval Guard of Honor

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh visited Fremantle. The royal couple met HMY "Britannia" and made the ship their base whilst in Perth.

August 1977

When the "ACT 7" berthed in the Inner Harbour on its maiden voyage in August 1977 it set a new record for container ships at Fremantle. The ship had a capacity of 2,002 container units.

The Malaysian International Shipping Corporation inaugurated a new container service linking Australian with South-East Asia with the arrival of the "Bunga Teratai" in Fremantle in August 1977. M.I.S.C. ships have been frequent visitors ever since.

22 October 1977

On 22nd October 1977 the ANRO Consortium's new hybrid ship "ANRO Australia" berthed at the Ro/Ro stern ramp at the Port of Fremantle. Fremantle Port Authority engineers designed a special articulated ramp to accommodate the hybrid Ro-Ro/Lo-Lo (Roll-on/roll-off lift-on/lift-off) ships of the ANRO Consortium. The three sister ships - "ANRO Australia"; "ANRO Temasek" and "ANRO Asia" provided frequent services between Australia and South East Asia, with a variety of containers available to carry bulk, refrigerated, outside loads and general purpose cargo.
