22 February 1985

On 22 February 1985, the Cunard Line's "Queen Elizabeth 2" called at Fremantle for the first time. Crowds gathered to watch the arrival and departure, with an estimated 50,000 people attracted to the Port by publicity in the local press and on television.

1 May 1985

The Authority's new pilot boat "Paddy Troy"' was launched on 1 May 1985 by the late Mr Troy's daughter, Mrs Hazel Butorac.

26 October 1985

After 25 years of service the "Oriana"' left Fremantle on the 26th October 1985 for the last time. The passenger liner had called at Fremantle on her maiden voyage on the 23rd Dec 1960 and since then had made 32 visits.
