Fremantle Ports closed the South Passage Channel between Rottnest Island and the Stragglers Reef to commercial shipping from 1 January 1995. The closure was in the interest of safety and in line with proposed port boundary changes.

19 February 1995

The "Arabian Breeze" arrived at Fremantle on 19 February 1995 to inaugurate a new Wallenius Line direct service from Europe to Australia.

1 July 1995

Fremantle Ports announced substantial reductions in its price structure from July 1 1995. The new simplified structure saw some charges cut by 50 per cent and others abolished.
