The launch of Fremantle Ports' environmental policy statement early in 1999 was a key step towards development of our environmental management system. The policy statement was prepared in accordance with ISO 14001 through a consultative mechanism with staff and key stakeholders. ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management. 

Fremantle Port gained ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system in 2001.
