Fremantle Ports, which maintains certification to the international environment standard ISO 14001, is now working to attaining AS4801, the Australian standard for safety management. The aim is to be ready for an assessment by December 2003.

Achievement of the Australian safety standard would prepare the way for certification to the international safety standard, 1SO 18000, which is currently under development.

External auditors recently commented very favourably on Fremantle Ports' integrated management system which encompasses safety, environmental management and continuous improvement.
