A cheque for more than $38,000 raised during the Docker's Starlight Purple Haze Game was presented to the Starlight Children's Foundation on December 3.
The cheque was presented to Starlight board member Dr Merci Kusel by Fremantle Ports’ commercial development manager Glenn Stephens and Fremantle Football Club CEO Cameron Schwab, at a Christmas party for about 2000 Dockers Junior Members and their families at Fremantle Oval.
The Starlight Purple Haze Game was supported this year by Fremantle Ports as the major sponsor. It is one of the major events on the Fremantle Football Club’s calendar and the proceeds are used by the Starlight Children’s Foundation to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families.
Fremantle Ports’ employees also assisted with the event, helping with the match day collection at Subiaco Oval and contributing more than $2000 via a fundraising breakfast the week before the game. They were joined by Fremantle Dockers Purple Haze Ambassadors Des Headland, Aaron Sandilands and Ryan Murphy, and Marcus Drum.
“Fremantle Ports is delighted to be working with the Fremantle Football Club to support Purple Haze Day again in 2007 and we hope to raise even more money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation,” Glenn Stephens said.
