Harbour Master Captain Allan Gray said the situtation would be constantly reviewed but at this stage pilotage would not recommence until tomorrow morning.
Captain Gray said vessels that did not require a pilot to move from the outer anchorages to Gage Roads (that is, vessels with drafts less than 11m) would be allowed to move to Gage Roads but deeper draft vessels would still be required to stay further out.
He expected pilot transfers to recommence at 8am tomorrow morning but said the situation would be under constant review until then.
Shipping movements at the port at Fremantle and Kwinana have been suspended since 11pm Sunday (28/6/09) due to winds gusting up to 120 kph with a big swell.
The severe weather conditions have made it unsafe for pilot transfers, resulting in shipping movements requiring pilots to be suspended. Pilots are required for shipping movements between Gage Roads and Fremantle or Kwinana berths.
North Mole and South Mole are closed to the public until further notice.
Four ships are currently berthed in the Inner Harbour and three ships are berthed in the Outer Harbour.
Trucking receivals and deliveries are still occuring at the port.
