Fremantle Ports has recommenced operations

Operations at Fremantle Ports have begun with the movement of a few vessels this morning.

Harbour Master Captain Allan Gray said that each vessel movement would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis in terms of safety and the prevailing weather conditions.

Shipping movements at the port at Fremantle and Kwinana were suspended from 11pm Sunday (28/6/09) due to winds gusting up to 120 kph with a big swell.

The severe weather conditions made it unsafe for pilot transfers, resulting in shipping movements requiring pilots to be suspended. Pilots are required for shipping movements between Gage Roads and Fremantle or Kwinana berths.

North Mole and South Mole remain closed to the public until further notice.

Trucking receivals and deliveries at the port were not suspended.
