Fremantle Ports has increased security in the port area in response to the current situation in Iraq.
Fremantle Ports Chief Executive Officer, Kerry Sanderson, said today the port's security system, which includes 24-hour electronic surveillance, restricted access to operational areas, and regular patrolling of the port areas, had been further upgraded.
"As Western Australia's major general cargo port, Fremantle is a key strategic facility. We are very conscious of the need for vigilance at all times, and especially in the present circumstances.
"We have introduced a number of additional security measures, and we are liaising closely with relevant State and national agencies on the issue of security."
