Repairs at the North Mole have been completed and the area is open to the public.
Severe storms in May 2003 resulted in extensive undermining of the road, and displacement of rocks that make up the sea walls.
As work progressed during the reconstruction more damage was found and additional rock was needed. This took extra time but the work stayed on schedule.
Fremantle Ports Chief Executive Officer, Kerry Sanderson, said that although the North Mole was an important Fremantle Ports asset it was also important as a recreation area for the wider community.
"We are very conscious of the value placed by the community on having access to this area and we have had many inquiries during the past year about when it would reopen.
"By doing this extensive work now we have ensured that the North Mole will continue to protect the Inner Harbour and provide recreation opportunities for the community," Kerry said.
