Total port trade through Fremantle Ports was 26.6 million mass tonnes in 2008-09, with the total value of trade worth more than $25 billion. The Port of Fremantle accounts for 76% by value of WA's seaborne imports and 16% by value of WA's seaborne exports.

Trade with East, South East and Southern Asia amounted to 52% of total port trade in 2008-09 (up from 34% in 1996-1997). Australian coastal trade accounts for 19% of total port trade.
