Fremantle Ports is committed to facilitating trade in a sustainable way. In line with this commitment it is important that our facilities are developed and operated in a sustainable manner. The Development Guidelines have been prepared to assist with the design and construction of sustainable developments that optimise the efficiency of port operations while minimising the impact of port operations on the environment and the local community.
Please note that before the commencement of any works, all new developments require Fremantle Ports’ Development Consent. (For exemptions, please see the brochure Development Exemptions.)
To obtain Development Consent, you will need to submit a Development Application to Fremantle Ports for assessment in the Development Assessment (DA) process. An Application for Development Consent Form will need to be completed and attached to your Development Application.
Before submitting a Development Application, it is recommended that you contact Fremantle Ports’ Planning section to discuss your development proposal.
The DA process enables the timely assessment of development applications at Fremantle Ports.
It has been divided into two phases:
1. Planning Review Phase - Development proposals need to demonstrate that they are consistent with the strategic planning for Fremantle Ports.
2. Development Assessment Phase - Development proposals will be assessed against the objectives and performance criteria of the Development Guidelines to ensure that all important development issues are addressed. The Development Application Checklist provides guidance on the information that may be required in a Development Application.
More information can be found in the Development Guidelines and Development Assessment Information Sheet. Please email Brett Pye (or call 9430 3471) if you have any queries or want to lodge a development application.
