Restoration and refurbishment of historic B Shed on Victoria Quay was undertaken by Fremantle Ports in 2010, and an area of about 600m² at the building’s eastern end now houses a ferry terminal and café.
The B Shed Ferry Terminal project was awarded a 2011 State Heritage Award.
The $3.5 million restoration and refurbishment project included repair and rebuilding of some of the giant doors, upgrading of essential services, installation of modern offices for the ferry operators, development of a café with an alfresco deck, heritage interpretation elements and signage.
Fremantle Ports plans to develop the middle section of B Shed as a lively interpretive/education centre providing information and activities on a wide range of aspects of Fremantle’s working port.
Leeuwin Ocean Adventure continues to occupy the western end of the building.
