As a prelude to Sculpture at Bathers 2022, Fremantle Ports has sponsored the installation of five sculptures on Victoria Quay, which will remain there right through to the end of the major event on 7 March.

The five sculptures and eight other public artworks on Victoria Quay together make up a 13-stop walking tour.

The public can simply scan a QR code on ground markings to bring up a guide map on their phones, as well as full information about the works and their creators.

Friends of Fremantle Ports will also run a series of eight guided tours, most featuring one or more of the artists throughout the period. These free guided tours can be booked on Eventbrite.

Manager Corporate and Community Relations Neil Stanbury said it was yet another great attraction at Victoria Quay, as part of Fremantle Ports’ Quay to Summer program.

“There’s a surprising quantity of art on Victoria Quay and our goal was to bring it all together for people,” he said.

“They can do their own walk, join one of scheduled and free hosted tours with our Friends of Fremantle Ports and hear from an artist about what they think, then finish the experience down here with a meal or a drink down at the harbour.”

Mr Stanbury said Fremantle Ports was a strong supporter of the arts and delighted to yet again support Sculpture at Bathers.

“There is so much going on down at Victoria Quay and the public are realising that the sculpture series is just one more brilliant development.”

He expected many patrons of the main Sculpture at Bathers event would add the Victoria Quay tour to their itinerary from its opening on 19 February, walking via the J Shed Studios on their way.

The five sculptures are by:

  • Richard Aitken
  • Miik Green
  • Peter Zappa
  • Bjoern Rainer-Adamson
  • Jennifer Cochrane

Other permanent sculptures and artwork at Victoria Quay are by:

  • Tony and Ben Jones
  • Pietro Porcelli
  • Greg James
  • Charles Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith
  • Andy Murphy
  • Judith Forrest
  • Howard Taylor
